My friend Sean sent me this email, with that as the title. Apparently that’s the look you want to rock if your trying to score a cover these days. Good eye Sean, you nerd.

Torey Pudwill has had a good few weeks. He won best trick at the Maloof Money Cup NYC, he finished an overall third in the same contest, he finished second at CPH and had the best video part of the year so far in Hallelujah. CCS has taken notice and put him on the program. Here’s a little welcome video for one of the valley’s finest:

A few weeks ago I was up pretty late at night listening to music and checking out some of the Europeskate social networks when I heard about Jereme Rogers and his new skateboard company Selfish Skateboards. Of course I was interested to find out where this new development was heading. I mean, Jereme retired from skateboarding at a pretty young age and now he’s back. And now another big hitter who has seen the ups and downs of the skateboard industry machinery has turned up and joined forces with Jereme – no one less than Brian Wenning! Here’s the official announcement from Selfish Skateboards – just to refresh your memory I’ve also attached two videos featuring Jereme Rogers and Brian Wenning:
We are proud to announce second pro rider on Selfish Skateboards. Representing the East Coast to the fullest none other than the Ski Mask Bandit: Brian Wenning.
“I made a huge mistake quitting Habitat and the day after I realized what I did made me hate what I loved all my life..and people could tell ….It gave me a very nasty taste of the industry..I didn’t even want to look at a skateboard for a little while ..at Alien/habitat it was based on trust as is Selfish.. no corporate nonsense, with this new brand (Selfish) I feel the feeling of loving skating again….it’s a new start and makes me want to skate and just have the love again to just skate bottom line…basically amped again and when people have your back I will have theirs fully…We are about to keep it movin’ and have fun doing it”
“When Jereme retired, I always said ‘Damn I should’ve done that!’ I fully supported his decision to do that…Sometimes you need a break no matter what it is…bottom line, I’m happy me and him are linked back up on a different level now, this whole situation is my type shit”
» Brian Wenning: “By jumping on board with Jereme and him having faith in me, I am ready to do whatever it takes to make it work, as with the people behind the scenes are also… like our guys using real wood not china made buffoonery, from that to the Graphic guys, marketing dudes and our Distribution, every company had to start somewhere and I think people will be shocked by how solid everything is set up. I’m ready”
» Jereme Rogers: “I’m excited and honoured to have Wenning aboard Selfish to be the first link to building our team. He’s one of the pros that I enjoyed watching skate. He has a classic style and has been an innovator for as long as he’s been around. I look forward to building off of this foundation and extending our team”

The Photo Of The Day series kicks off the new month of July with a black and white photo by Andrew Hodgson (check out his Flickr gallery here…) who by the way already has been featured on Europeskate before. The skater is one Davey the Zoot man Hughes in the middle of a backside heelflip on one of the coolest/hardest banks to skate, at least according to Andrew. I can say that I believe him when I look at the bank!

I guess we can almost say that Pontus Alv is something like a legend in skateboarding, especially in the northern European countries and for those skaters out there who have been living skateboarding with OR without the big hype for many years. Five years after the release of “Strongest of the Strange” the next video clip entitled “In Search Of The Miracolous” has been unleashed on the eyes of viewers in several cities as of today.
I’ll finally to get to see the premiere in Hamburg on July 6th with Pontus Alv himself making an appearance as well. Check out the following links for more information about the video and if you have some time have a look at the video clip below with Pontus giving us a little insight into his latest video effort.

For over a year now switch ledge magician Brian Wenning has been floating in limbo without a board sponsor after his dismissal from Plan B skateboards. Last we spoke to him he said he had a few offers on the table but no one could have foreseen the unbelievable, king-crab-sized news that was announced…

In the spirit of rebellious street skating, the “SHUFFL” video premiere at The Pearl, in Point Loma California, went off with every hitch possible: trouble with entry, glasses shattering from the second story and multiple visits from the San Diego Police force. The DVD was still being burned as I arrived…

Lee Bender has been battling with MS over the years, but recently Lee has learned of a new treatment in Poland that is shown to alleviate all the major symptoms of MS. To help him afford the bold new surgery Real has released the new Lee Bender “Down with MS” actions Realized board with artwork by Lance Mountain. A portion of the proceeds from Lee’s Actions REALized board will go directly to helping Lee receive the procedure in Poland and hopefully return him to his normal self..and one day allow him to skate again. Check out the video “Lee is Free” for Lee’s full story and to see how you can lend him your support.
