I just like Roger Skateboards – no frills, no extras, just funny graphics, skaters that skate and they can make fun of themselves. Unluckily I haven’t gotten my hands on one of their decks (and there are still decks out there that I would just hang on the wall because they look cool and Roger Skateboards has quite a few of them!)
Continuing their “Roger Of The Month” skater video footage series, Patrick Franklin from Des Plaines, Illinois, USA runs away with the last title of 2009. So enjoy some skating from Patrick who is probably trying to keep warm through some skating.
As it was most likely quite easy to see in advance that I wasn’t going to pull through an entire month with one Pic Of The Day, this “experiment” has also been good for me to see how I am going to continue pushing the skateboard photography section in 2010. I’m looking forward to the many mails with new pictures, skaters and impressions from around the world. Keep sending them in!
Today’s Pic Of The Day comes from Kristijan Smok and it was taken in Zagreb, Croatia on a ferry (nice idea!) by one Michel KubaÄek doing a 50-50 grind. The shot was made with a Canon 400d with a Sigma 10mm at F2.8 and a flash from the left side.
Vans hosted a Christmas party in Hollywood last night and it was truly epic. At the party was a theatrical version of Point Break with Andrew Allen taking the leading role of Johnny Utah. It’s kind of hard to explain what went down exactly, but here’s a few photos.
This is a weird one. Zac Efron, the heartthrob young actor that your sisters and girlfriends all have a crush on, apparently skates. Not only that, The Times of India is reporting that Efron bought a new house, his first, and designed it specifically so he could skate inside it. Oh man. “It’s unique, very modern, very clean, very simple, with concrete floors so I can skateboard inside the house,” Efron told The Times of India. While you don’t have to like Efron as an actor (I don’t), and him skating…
Skateboarding and slams are two things that are inseparable, but skaters keep on getting up and doing it, regardless of how bad it hurts. Even though we find ourselves in horrible circumstances, we develop cat-like reflexes. Then again, other people either get caught off guard or are pre-programmed to take it like a Mack truck hitting a brick wall. However skaters deal with the slams, they’re unavoidable. So, take a look at this little slice of the other side of skate life in our Slam Gallery.
Habitat Skateboards have released a video of their Continental Caravan European Tour featuring the likes of Kerry Getz, Guru Khalsa, Daryl Angel, Marius Syvanen and Habitat International’s Manuel Margreiter, apparently Silas ankle was twice it’s size at the start of the tour so no footage from him.
Heathen have posted up a edit of their Holy Mountain Tour online for your viewing pleasure, the DVD which will have a limited release comes loads more insane footage from the tour and extras including a zine and stickers.
